The S-RC Cup is the UK's national RC motorsport championship for young people, combining engineering, business and racing into a hands-on STEM competition inspired by real-world motorsport.
The Competition
Engineering meets Racing
In S-RC, you are working with high performance purpose built Formula-RC cars, capable of speeds 50+ km/h. Learn the fundamentals of motorsport engineering, and take your creation to the racetrack to prove it against the rest of the UK.
Industry Simulation
The S-RC Cup mirrors the actual motorsport industry, taking inspiration from series’ such as Formula 1. You spend months working on the development of the car alongside business challenges such as talking to real industry sponsors. After that: the racing season, with time for upgrades between events. At racedays, you go through practice sessions, qualifying, and races – as well as being interviewed by our “mock broadcast” team. Throughout the year, you face the same challenges real Formula 1 teams do.
Team for Life
Throughout the year, you’ll be working in a team of peers. You can start with friends, or be part of a whole new team – either way, this team will grow over the year into a family of sorts. Students aged 12-18 take part, all in different motorsport related roles. You can be the Team Principal, Driver, Engineer, Marketing Lead, and much more.

Start a Team
Register for Season 2 today! An S-RC Season lines up to 1 academic year, beginning in October, and ending in July. Once registered, your school will be contacted and onboarded by S-RC.
Design / Build
Work together to design and manufacture a racecar, find sponsors, and train your driver ahead of the pre-season test. Access S-RC education programme materials to help you through your journey.
Race
Take your Car, Team, and spare parts to races and events across the UK, racking up points from qualifying rounds and race wins, alongside off-track stem challenges.

Genuine Independant problem-solving
S-RC teams learn skills to operate independently. They are empowered to get into the real world, talking to genuine industry partners and supporters, and fully controlling their journey through the season – no limits applied.
"Learn by Doing"
Whilst the Online Education Programme contains a bank of knowledge accessible to all students, the S-RC methodology is to “Learn by Doing”. Get stuck in – make mistakes, but more importantly, make learnings.
Hype and real Excitement
Just like in sports such as Formula 1, S-RC hosts multiple races. You can win in Leicester, but come P6 in Northampton. The competition is designed with development gaps between races, so you can take your learnings from a race, and develop upgrade packages – creating real hype for the next event.
Connection to Industry and Higher Education
S-RC Race Hosts are carefully selected to deliver an additional experience to students. Universities make up the majority of regional rounds, and add activities to the day such as campus tours or talking to professors. Aerospace and Motor Museums provide free tickets to their exhibits, and Whilton Mill exposes you to legendary tarmac – raced on by F1 Legends Daniel Ricciardo, Kimi Antonelli, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz an more.
Season 1 Review
The historic first championship battle
On the 6th July 2026, LSS-SAAB Gripen Racing were crowned the first ever S-RC Cup Champions at Whilton Mill, after a gripping championship battle with LSS Velocity Vortex and COBC Absolute Zero. But one year ago – S-RC had never held a race. This is the story of S-RC’s first year on the grid.
